Pay rate: $23/hour
Position: Crisis Intervention Specialist
Responsibilities- Respond to and support adults, children, and families in mental health crises
- Engage, de‑escalate, assess needs, and develop collaborative action steps
- Provide direct service and intervention in person, by phone, or through electronic media
- Attend staff meetings as needed to ensure continuity of care, participate in other meetings, establish and maintain positive work relationships, and engage fully as a member of the team
- Proactively demonstrate constructive conflict resolution skills and employ helpful self‑care tools that recognize and safely attend to issues of secondary traumatization
- All work is performed with the goal and intention of maintaining a trauma‑informed, trauma‑sensitive, and recovery‑oriented framework
- Passion for helping others
- Associate degree or higher
- Proficiency with technology
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
- Driver’s license and a vehicle
- No experience necessary – full training provided
- Associate’s Degree and two years of relevant experience required (behavioral health or human services setting, volunteer work, or internship)
- One year of relevant experience defined as the equivalent of 1,200 hours of work, volunteerism, or internship
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, human development, social sciences, Health/Human Services, Social Work, or Law Enforcement preferred along with two to three years of relevant experience
- MHRT/CSP certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment (on‑site training provided)
- Technical literacy: electronic documentation, solid oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, flexible schedule
- Demonstrated competence with critical thinking, ethical decision‑making, and problem‑solving
- Knowledge of DSM‑V desirable
- Ability to work across differing systems, within a team framework, encompassing diverse rules, policies, and cultural perspectives
- Belief that recovery is possible and commitment to client‑centered agency perspectives of recovery and treatment
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, e‑mail, and the internet
- Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list
Portland, ME (Cumberland County) – in‑office and community work with some potential for remote work
ScheduleFull‑time, 40 hours/week. Some evenings and weekends required.
