Job SummaryThe Portland International Jetport is hiring for an entry‑level Airport Operations Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities- Monitoring surveillance video, access control, alarms, mass notification systems, weather‑related equipment, phones, and radios.
- Assisting with terminal inspections, TSA & FAA inspections, aircraft gate assignments, irregular operations, tests and audits, and assisting airport management on matters involving safety, security, and customer service.
- Acting as “Trusted Agents”, responsible for viewing, recording, and processing background checks for airport badge holders.
- Pass all local and federal background investigations, specifically TSA Regulation 49 CFR, Part 1542.
- Hold a valid U.S. State Driver’s License, or be able to obtain one prior to employment. Demonstrate proficiency in airfield driving and FAA Part 139 inspection criteria upon completion of a six‑month probationary period.
- Possess a working knowledge of FAA and TSA rules and regulations.
- Be comfortable with technology use, including competency with MS Office and Google Workspace.
- Display excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers including airport tenants, the general public, and City, State and Federal agencies.
- Go above and beyond to exceed customer expectations, representing Maine to our global and domestic travelers.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates who possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Airport Management or comparable airport related experience, experience at a commercial non‑hub or larger airport in Airport Operations, Airport Security, or other applicable professional aviation experience.
Expected Hours / ScheduleAirport Operations Coordinators work rotating 10‑hour shifts, 4 days a week, available for holidays and on‑call shifts, subject to mandatory overtime call‑ins for the 24/7/365 operation.
Salary & BenefitsUnion position, Protech Grade 5, $24.88‑28.00 hourly base starting rate depending on experience.
