What You’ll Do- Drive and operate a tractor trailer combination while monitoring the temperature of a refrigerated trailer
- Ensure all required shipping documentation, including manifests, security seal sheets, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, and related paperwork, is available for inspection and accompanies each shipment when delivered
- Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations, including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law and company policy
- Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures while complying with Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
- Represent Tyson Foods safely and professionally when interacting with customers and the public
- Support transportation operations through Local, Regional, and Over-the-Road driving opportunities, depending on business needs and candidate qualifications
- Consider Yard Driver opportunities when available to gain additional experience and build toward future CDL driving roles
- Tyson Foods maintains its own fleet of Volvo, Freightliner, and Kenworth trucks
- Equipment is well maintained, with trucks no more than four years old
- Tyson Foods provides driver-focused equipment such as an APU, inverter, and refrigerator
- Trucks are automatic transmission and governed at the posted speed limit, up to 70 mph
- Work may include Local, Regional, Over-the-Road, or Yard Driver assignments depending on location, business needs, and experience level
- Drivers may operate in a variety of settings, including highways, customer locations, distribution centers, terminals, truck yards, and loading dock areas
- Work may include extended periods of driving, sitting, backing, coupling, uncoupling, inspecting equipment, and entering or exiting the tractor
- Drivers may work around refrigerated trailers, moving equipment, shipping areas, and changing weather or road conditions
- Safe driving, defensive driving, trip planning, communication, accurate documentation, and compliance with DOT and company requirements are essential
Your military experience may be considered in lieu of some civilian experience requirements outlined below. Your Military driving experience will be considered when calculating compensation. The following are shown for guidance only as potential roles that would translate well to CDL driving opportunities. Equivalent civilian experience will also be considered.
- Motor Transport Operators, Vehicle Operators, or Motor Vehicle Operators
- Tactical vehicle, tractor trailer, heavy truck, or fuel vehicle drivers
- Convoy drivers, convoy leaders, transportation section leaders, or dispatch support personnel
- Petroleum, oil, lubricant, or fuel distribution personnel with heavy vehicle operating experience
- Equipment Operators who have operated heavy wheeled vehicles, construction equipment, or transport vehicles
- Logistics, supply, movement control, or transportation personnel with documented vehicle operation responsibilities
- Service members who held a military driver’s license or operated vehicles comparable to commercial motor vehicles
