The Property Accountant is a vital role to a growing property management team in downtown Portland. In this role, you will manage the financial health of a diverse and expanding portfolio, ensuring every balance sheet account is reconciled with precision. This role is ideal for an analytical professional who enjoys the investigation behind the numbers and wants to work in a culture that values process improvement and flexibility.
With a hybrid schedule and a supportive leadership team, this is a great opportunity to take ownership of property-level financials while contributing to the company’s regional expansion.
- Perform comprehensive monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled to the penny.
- Prepare and review accurate financial statements for a designated group of managed properties.
- Conduct the final review and approval of invoices, proactively flagging discrepancies and validating all entries for accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with property managers to communicate financial findings and variances in clear business terms.
- Assist with the seamless onboarding of new property portfolios as the firm continues its growth trajectory.
- Identify opportunities for workflow enhancement and participate in workplace improvement initiatives.
- Maintain organized financial records to support year-end processes and potential audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 1+ years of accounting experience, experience within the property management or real estate industry is preferred.
- Proficiency with Yardi or similar ERP software.
- Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to resolve variances rather than just processing transactions.
- A stable work history demonstrating commitment and professional growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
