Position Summary
The Accounting Technician provides crucial accounting and administrative support to PSU departments, serving as a central point of contact for financial transactions and ensuring accuracy and efficiency across multiple systems.
Responsibilities- Create, review, and verify transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing.
- Perform meticulous data entry and verification in various accounting and database systems.
- Resolve billing and payment issues, including discrepancies on invoices and statements, by interacting with vendors, customers, and university staff.
- Provide administrative support to the University PCard Program, reviewing transaction documentation, distributing transactions in Banner, reconciling PCard Packets in OnBase, ensuring compliance, and assisting card holders with inquiries.
- Act as a liaison and provide customer service for all financial transaction matters, troubleshooting issues and finding solutions with a deep understanding of PSU’s financial system.
- 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of accounting courses, or an associate’s degree in accounting.
- One year of experience that includes entering, compiling, and/or reporting financial information, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses, all from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
- Experience with PSU systems such as Banner, OnBase, and Payment Works.

Work Days / HoursMonday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. This is an on‑campus position.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits StatementThe starting salary rate for this position will be between $19.36 and $21.91 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience. PSU offers an excellent benefits package including 95% premium‑paid healthcare, a generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at any Oregon Public University.
