Role Description

The Bookkeeper is a full‑time, on‑site role based at our Portland, OR location. This position is responsible for accurately recording daily financial transactions, including vendor bills, customer invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements. The Bookkeeper will prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, and maintain up‑to‑date ledgers. The role includes supporting monthly and quarterly closing activities, assisting with the preparation of financial statements, and ensuring that documentation is complete and organized.

The Bookkeeper will also work with accounting software to generate reports, respond to internal inquiries about transactions, and collaborate with the finance team to improve processes and maintain compliance with company policies.

Qualifications
  • Strong bookkeeping skills, including maintaining ledgers, processing transactions, and preparing journal entries (accounting).
  • Ability to work with financial statements and support the preparation and review of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and related financial tools; comfort learning new systems as needed.
  • General knowledge of finance principles, including accruals, reconciliations, and basic budgeting concepts.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small to mid‑sized organization; experience in renewables or environmental services is a plus.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
