Job Description & How to Apply Below
What you should know:
Mulberry Talent is partnering with a growing, entrepreneurial tax firm building a high-quality, scalable practice. They’re looking for a Tax Advisory leader to play a key role in their growth.
This is not a traditional firm environment:
You’ll step into a high-impact role with real ownership over complex tax review and delivery while also helping to shape how the function evolves.
The role is ideal for someone coming from a mid-to-large firm who enjoys the technical side of tax, but is looking for more autonomy, visibility, and the ability to see their direct impact on both clients and the business.
Why This Role?- Critical leadership for a core tax function; play a central role in its evolution
- Less bureaucracy, more ability to shape how work gets done
- Help create scalable processes and influence firm growth
- Stay close to complex, meaningful tax work
- See the direct results of your work on clients and the business
Lead Complex Tax Review
- Perform hands‑on review of business tax returns (S Corps, C Corps, Partnerships, Schedule C, etc.)
- Evaluate and defend tax positions across federal and state jurisdictions
- Navigate complex IRS and state tax matters with confidence
- Design and improve tax review workflows and quality control processes
- Standardize methodologies to drive consistency and efficiency
- Help create infrastructure that can scale across a growing platform
- Lead by example; remain hands‑on while mentoring and developing junior staff
- Review work, provide feedback, and elevate overall team capability
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Operate with an ownership mindset—identify gaps and step in where needed
- Partner with leadership on firm growth and operational strategy
- Support client relationships and contribute to organic business development
- 4+ years of tax experience, 2+ within public accounting firm
- Strong technical expertise across business returns (S Corps, C Corps, Partnerships)
- Proven experience reviewing complex tax work
- Experience mentoring or leading junior staff in a hands‑on capacity
- CPA (current or in process) strongly preferred
Compensation and Benefits: $115-130K in annual compensation commensurate with experience + bonus and benefits.
