Job Description & How to Apply Below
Although this is remote,
candidates must be local in the Portland area. The team is local and they do get together occasionally.
Our client is a growing company in the Portland area. They recently acquired a new manufacturing facility, which brought about the need for this newly created position.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full standalone monthly/quarterly close for a new manufacturing entity, including inventory accounting, COGS, standard costing, variance analysis, and fixed assets
- Own intercompany consolidation and elimination — build and maintain elimination entries across the entity structure (real estate lease-to-manufacturing, manufacturing-to-distribution), ensuring intercompany balances tie out and eliminate correctly each period
- Drive the mechanics of monthly consolidated GAAP financial statements used for lender reporting, working closely with the Controller on treatment and review
- Lead financial reporting preparation and variance analysis, including budget-to-actual and month-over-month comparisons, providing commentary on key drivers to the Controller
- Complete full GL reconciliation for the manufacturing entity, ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled and supported each period
- Apply percentage-of-completion accounting for contract manufacturing arrangements, ensuring revenue and cost recognition align with GAAP requirements
- Design and document the close calendar, elimination templates, and reconciliation processes for a consolidation function that is being built from the ground up
- Implement new financial reporting tools including a tool for intercompany eliminations and a fixed asset management system to increase efficiency
- Partner with the Controller on process decisions as the company scales its entity structure
Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity or consolidation work
- Advanced Excel skills (required)
- Strong understanding of GAAP, particularly around intercompany transactions and consolidation
- Comfort operating in early stage, still-being-built processes — this role will shape how things get done, not just execute an existing playbook
- CPA preferred but not required
- A willingness to collaborate, learn and contribute ideas and perspectives
