Tax Senior
We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Senior to lead tax compliance and planning for a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients. The Tax Senior will prepare complex federal, state, and local tax returns, identify tax-saving opportunities, review work of junior staff, and serve as a technical resource for clients and the firm. This role requires strong tax technical skills, proven accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and exempt organization tax returns and related schedules.
- Perform tax research and provide recommendations on federal, state, and local tax issues to minimize client tax liability and manage risk.
- Manage multiple client engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
- Review and mentor staff accountants and tax associates, providing constructive feedback and training to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Coordinate with clients to collect necessary documentation, explain tax positions, and respond to inquiries during the year and throughout tax season.
- Assist with tax provision calculations, tax projections, and year-end tax planning strategies.
- Identify process improvements, contribute to workflow enhancements, and support adoption of tax technology and software.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation, regulations, and industry best practices and communicate implications to clients and internal teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
Masters in Tax or Accounting or equivalent preferred. - Minimum 3+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a tax advisory role, with demonstrable experience preparing complex returns.
- Required Active CPA or EA license or at least 2 parts passed of either exam
- Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting principles and tax software (e.g., Ultra Tax, Pro System fx, Drake, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tax matters to clients and collaborate with internal teams.
- Proven experience supervising and mentoring junior staff and managing multiple engagements and deadlines.
