Job Summary And Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant, Fund Administration & Complex Gifts is responsible for the preparation of financial statements for OCF’s 3800+ component funds and six supporting organizations; management of fund spending policies; assessment of fund administration fees; and the management, liquidation and financial accounting of non-cash gifts received by OCF, including real estate, business interests, and other complex gifts. This position also supports other fund administration functions and provides financial information to OCF’s donors, staff, and other interested parties.

This position works closely with other departments of the Foundation, particularly the Philanthropic Services Department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Fund Financial Management Percentage of Time: 55%
  • Prepare fund financial statements in coordination with multiple internal parties
    • Supporting Organizations and Agency Endowment Partner Funds (quarterly)
    • Advised Funds (semi-annually)
    • Scholarship and Designated Funds (annually)
    • Other funds as required
  • Calculate annual spending policies for all funds, and modify as needed
  • Manage the assessment of administrative fees for all funds (monthly) and supporting organizations (quarterly)
  • Respond to requests from donors, staff, and other interested parties related to contributions and funds.
  • Provide reports on contributions and fund data, in addition to participating in ad hoc business analysis and process improvement projects.
  • Complex Gift Management & Administration Percentage of Time: 40%
  • In coordination with the Associate Vice President of Finance and Fund Administration, manage the full cycle of property gifts received by OCF, from due diligence, acceptance and processing through property management, listing, and sale.
  • Work closely with staff managing OCF’s Supporting Organizations to ensure smooth processing and management of annual real estate gifts.
  • Assist with the intake and processing of charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities.
  • Serve as principal backup for the liquidation of donated securities. Coordinate with staff, donors, and brokers to provide exceptional donor service.
  • Provide support for other complex gifts received by OCF, including business interests, closely held stock and promissory notes.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited 4-year institution, or a related degree with significant accounting experience.
  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible accounting, finance, real estate, or related experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business or another relevant field, or CPA, desirable but not required
