The OpportunityWe're partnering with a respected nonprofit organization in Portland seeking a Controller to lead the accounting function and support the organization's financial operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting leader who enjoys mission-driven work and wants to play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and organizational decision-making.
Compensation & Benefits- $115,000–$145,000 salary

- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and month-end/year-end close
- Lead financial reporting and ensure accurate, timely financial statements
- Manage and develop the accounting team
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger activities
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Coordinate annual audits and tax filings
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, grant requirements, and applicable regulations
- Partner with leadership on financial planning and organizational strategy
- Provide financial insight to support organizational decision-making
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Nonprofit accounting experience required
- Previous Controller or accounting leadership experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with audits, budgeting, and grant accounting
- Strong leadership and communication skills
