As a Staff Accountant in the Tax Department, you will prepare various types of individual and entity tax returns. The ideal candidate will possess experience, ability, and strong interest in tax preparation. This role requires the ability to handle multiple projects independently while collaborating with the rest of the Tax Department.
McDonald Jacobs serves clients in a broad range of industries, with a special focus on creative and professional services, estates, trusts, private foundations, and individuals.
What You’ll Do- Preparation of various individual and entity tax returns
- Perform tax planning and compliance tasks
- Collaborate with team members to provide excellent client service
- Examines assigned financial records and statements for accuracy
- Assists with the preparation of financial statements
- Reviews supplied financial information for accuracy and identify missing or incomplete information
- Uses appropriate accounting software and/or systems to prepare tax returns
- Maintains understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law
- Performs other related duties as designated
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to read and analyze financial reports
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax regulations
- Well-organized and with the ability to work efficiently and prioritize appropriately
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or experience in a related field required
- Associates degree or tax preparation training is highly preferred
- CPA licensed or qualified candidate
