Position Summary

The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the hotel's financial operations by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking activities, reconciliations, audits, and month-end accounting functions. This position works closely with the Operations, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Sales teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare and process customer invoices and cash receipts.
  • Generate and distribute group billing invoices within established timelines.
  • Review accounts receivable aging reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Monitor Guest Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Advance Deposit balances.
  • Coordinate with Front Desk teams regarding open folios and billing discrepancies.
  • Assist with customer credit applications, credit reviews, and deposit requirements.
Accounts Payable
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile accounts payable invoices and vendor statements.
  • Review and reconcile Marriott brand invoices, including loyalty and rewards‑related charges.
  • Maintain organized records and supporting documentation.
Banking & Cash Management
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations.
  • Count and verify daily cash drops.
  • Monitor and investigate cash overages, shortages, and missing deposits.
  • Prepare and complete bank deposits for cash and checks.
Financial Reconciliations & Audits
  • Reconcile daily income journals.
  • Assist with tenant account reconciliations.
  • Support monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct monthly house bank audits.
  • Perform periodic Food & Beverage cash and revenue audits.
  • Research and respond to chargebacks, ensuring all supporting documentation is submitted before deadlines.
Month-End & Year-End Reporting
  • Assist with monthly closing processes.
  • Monthly check run
  • Reconcile Monthly Marriott Loyalty Reimbursement
  • Support preparation for annual financial audits.
  • Maintain financial records in compliance with company standards and accounting practices.
Team Collaboration
  • Attend daily operational meetings and stand‑up sessions.
  • Partner with hotel departments to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
  • Complete additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hotel accounting, hospitality finance, or general accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
  • Marriott, M3, or hospitality accounting experience is a plus.
