Multnomah County’s Attorney’s Office is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant 1 to join our team. In this essential role, you’ll provide critical administrative support that helps our lawyers and paralegals serve the county and its departments.
Key Responsibilities- Administrative Support: Manage office supplies, process invoices, handle new hire paperwork, and maintain essential office templates.
- Legal & Case Management: Assist lawyers and paralegals with e‑filing court documents, organizing case files, and proofreading legal documents for accuracy.
- Discovery & Records: Help with e‑discovery and public records requests, ensuring information is handled with care and precision.
- Reception & Communication: Serve as the first point of contact for the office, greeting visitors and answering phones. Respond to inquiries from lawyers, witnesses, and the public.
- File Management: Take ownership of the office’s filing system, including opening, maintaining, and archiving case files. Process and route tort claim notices and incident files.
- General Office Tasks: Handle mail, faxes, and deliveries; manage office equipment; and assist with other general office duties as needed.
- Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. - Experience:
One (1) year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 0‑1 years of qualifying training and/or experience).
- Experience in public sector municipal law.
- Experience working in a legal or professional office setting.
- Experience working in Clio, Everlaw, Westlaw and Google Documents.
- Transferable skills: any skills gained through education, work, or life experience that are relevant for this position.
Hybrid Telework:
This position is designated as “hybrid telework,” meaning you will be working both remotely (from home) and in person at an onsite location. The onsite work location for this position is the Multnomah Building located at 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, Oregon 97214. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington.
Pay Range: $25.83 - $36.16 hourly.
