Benefits to you

  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees [OR up to 99% of medical insurance premiums for part-time employees], including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $27.49 - $42.65. [OR the annual salary for this position is $57,183 - $88,708.]

  • OJD will pay you a 5% allowance for bilingual skills (includes ASL) if you can pass a skills test and are assigned to use those skills on the job!
  • In this job profile, we offer candidates new to OJD up to the fourth step of the salary range, depending on experience. You are potentially eligible for a 5% annual increase.

Position Highlights

The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a High-Volume Courtroom Clerk (Courtroom Clerk).

In this role…

You will have many varying responsibilities. First and foremost, you will support a judge in a courtroom by performing real-time data entry as well as knowing your docket inside and out to respond to questions from the judge, other court staff, and court participants. The High-Volume Clerks unit works with a variety of case types ranging from criminal, traffic, parking, domestic relations, stalking, small claims, and landlord/tenant.

Prior to and during your assigned docket, you will be required to review case files, prepare court forms, and make note of any pertinent information related to each case. During the docket you will be tasked with handling exhibits, running recording systems, completing forms, managing virtual appearances, and helping the judge manage the flow of the docket. All of these tasks require attention-to-detail and the ability to navigate multiple computer programs at the same time, while also keeping an eye on what is happening in the courtroom.

After the docket, you will be required to audit your work and ensure that all data entry was completed with 100% accuracy, including scheduling hearings, recalling warrants, routing paperwork, suspending or clearing drivers' license suspensions, generating judgments, and issuing show-cause actions when appropriate.
