Compensation: $19-$24. per hour;

- Greet and welcome visitors, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate staff or service.
- Answer and screen phone calls, take accurate messages, and forward calls as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized reception area.
- Manage and purchase office supplies
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages; prepare outgoing mail for delivery.
- Assist with general clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, data entry, and preparing correspondence.
- Generate daily check log
- Update CRM - Enter or retrieve information from the membership system
- Coordinate with volunteers on various projects
- Other duties, as assigned
The Front Office Receptionist/Administrative Assistant is the first point of contact for members, visitors, and guests contacting the synagogue by phone, email and in person. The position also provides general administrative support in the areas of member relations, mail handling, programming, office administration, event support and ritual communication as directed by the clergy.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ensuring a warm and professional first impression. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail are essential for managing appointments, handling inquiries, and maintaining office efficiency. The ideal candidate will be proficient in multitasking, adaptable to a fast-paced environment, and have a customer-focused mindset. Experience with the Jewish community, office software and administrative tasks is a plus, along with a positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional service.
QualificationsAnd Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or relevant experience
- Self-starter & able to work independently
- Detail-oriented
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellence in multi-tasking and handling a fast-paced work environment
- Highly competent computer skills:
Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel - Existing knowledge, or ability and willingness to learn, synagogue rituals and religious observances
- Ability to learn the synagogue membership system and other applications. Experience with data entry into CRM systems is preferred
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
- Able to build and sustain relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Open and calm demeanor in quick decision-making moments.
