Department Overview
Provide support to the HCPB professional billing team with a focus on the preparation of the daily deposits and distribution of various forms of correspondence.
This position is full time in our downtown office. Work schedule is flexible hours between 5:00am until 6:00pm, Monday through Friday.
Function/Duties of Position- Processes daily mail received from both the post office and the OHSUcourier from other OHSU departments and distribute to staff across theOHSU Professional Billing (PB) department.
- Prepares daily deposits for two OHSU service areas.
- Retrieves explanation of benefits from payer websites and prepares both payment and denial batches for entry into the Epic platform.
- Reviews and assigns electronically received correspondence to office and department staff within set turnaround parameters.
- Prepare and mail out refund checks once printed for both patient and insurance companies for two service areas weekly.
- Scanning of documents including payment batches, follow up batches, andrefund checks into the OnBase archive application for all departments atOHSU PB.
- Other duties as assigned.
One year of general office or secretarial experience,
ANDAn Associate’s degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology;
ORA Bachelor’s degree and six months of general office or secretarial experience;
ORAn equivalent combination of training and experience.

Skills and Abilities
- Medical terminology.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to use reason and logic to solve problems and multi-task as needed.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Basic office equipment knowledge including scanning.
- Experience with using software such asword, excel.
- Minimum one year in the medical field.
- Mail room experience.
- Epic platform experience.
