The mission of the Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health at the University of Oregon is to expand equitable access to behavioral health support for children and families by training behavioral health providers, advancing research, and strengthening community capacity. Our vision is to ensure that all children have the support they need to thrive. To achieve this vision, the Ballmer has launched the nation’s first undergraduate program in child behavioral health.
This program lays the foundation for a credentialed bachelor’s-level behavioral health profession grounded in evidence-based practices that will expand access to care and provides a model that can be scaled nationally.
This groundbreaking institute was made possible by an extraordinary gift from Connie and Steve Ballmer, co-founders of Ballmer Group Philanthropy, and is located on the UO Portland campus.
The Clinical Training Program Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and operational management for the Institute's clinical training, field placement, and professional learning programs. Working with a high degree of independence under general administrative direction, this position assists program leadership in the ongoing administration, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of clinical training operations. Responsibilities include managing field placement partnerships and agreements, administering student field clearance and compliance processes, coordinating professional learning and continuing education activities, overseeing external clinic operations, and supporting program planning and implementation.
The position establishes and maintains procedures, systems, and controls necessary to support program operations; monitors activities for compliance with university policies, accreditation standards, contractual obligations, and site-specific requirements; researches, interprets, and applies policies and procedures to resolve non-routine issues; and evaluates operational information to identify needs, improve processes, and support program objectives.
The position serves as a primary liaison among students, faculty, supervisors, community partners, clinic providers, and external agencies, providing guidance, responding to inquiries, coordinating communications, and facilitating effective program delivery.
In addition, the position coordinates administrative projects and events, manages program communications and documentation, supports operational planning and decision-making, monitors timelines and program requirements, and develops reports, materials, and recommendations needed to advance short- and long-range clinical training goals. Through independent judgment, stakeholder coordination, and ongoing program oversight, this position contributes to the effective administration and continuous improvement of the Institute's clinical training and clinical operations programs.
This position reports directly to the Senior Director and Chief of Staff and will work closely with faculty leadership including the Department Head and Director of Clinical Training.
