Position: Benefits Analyst (Hybrid)

Overview

The Benefits Analyst is responsible for benefit administration activities and serves as the primary benefit resource for Northwest Permanente employees. Using experience and knowledge of benefit/FMLA/OFLA related laws, this position will provide best practice advice and operational improvement recommendations. Daily duties include benefits administration, implementing and conducting audit procedures, customer service, reconciliation of benefit plan bills, and supporting the management of vendor relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding associated with benefits orientation.
  • Assist in the annual benefit open enrollment process, participating in vendor meetings, internal communications, and updating new staff benefit elections.
  • Monitor compliance of benefit plans and recommend necessary changes: annual filings, file feeds, plan documents, SPDs, and other legal notices.
  • Understand, interpret, and comply with all state and federal laws related to health and welfare plans.
  • Assist in the administration of all health and welfare plans, fringe benefits, life and disability insurance, and Cobra.
  • Conduct audits and reconcile all benefit accounts.
  • Work collaboratively with Payroll to ensure proper deductions are taken for final pay processing.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field. Required education may be substituted by additional years of experience.
  • Five (5) years of benefits administration experience.
  • Proficient with MS Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with automated file transfers to vendors.
  • Experience with benefits administration, including medical and dental plans, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, life, AD&D, short and long-term disability.
  • Knowledge of benefit plan cost drivers and plan designs.
  • Knowledge of various laws such as ERISA, FMLA, OFLA, ACA, etc.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems/benefit tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Benefit Professional (CBP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) status.
  • Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification.
  • Experience with Ultimate/UKG Software.
