Job Title: Project Engineer – Construction
Location: Portland, Oregon
Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 annually (DOE)
AboutThe Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects
, including office, retail, mixed-use, and tenant improvement work. This role partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contract documents.
This position is ideal for a construction professional looking to build a long-term career in commercial construction with hands‑on exposure to all phases of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Support Project Managers with scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking for commercial projects
- Manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and project documentation
- Review architectural, structural, MEP, and civil drawings for coordination and constructability
- Assist with subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, and contract administration
- Track change orders and assist with pricing, backup documentation, and approvals
- Coordinate material procurement and long‑lead items
- Participate in OAC and subcontractor meetings
- Support jobsite operations and collaborate with Superintendents on sequencing and logistics
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and project specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction preferred
- Working knowledge of commercial construction means and methods
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore or similar CM software preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced project environment
- Annual salary: $65,000 – $75,000, based on experience and qualifications
