Senior Estimator

Pay: $110,000–$150,000 DOE + Commission + Company Vehicle

Schedule: Monday–Friday

Opti Staffing Group is partnering with a well‑established commercial mechanical contractor serving the Portland metro area. Known for delivering high‑quality HVAC and mechanical construction projects, our client has built a reputation for technical expertise, strong customer relationships, and a commitment to excellence. They are looking for an experienced Senior HVAC Estimator who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys helping win exciting commercial construction projects.

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements.
• Perform material takeoffs and labor calculations for HVAC systems, piping, ductwork, controls, and mechanical equipment.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Develop competitive bid strategies while identifying value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, field operations, and ownership throughout the preconstruction process.
• Attend pre‑bid meetings, job walks, and client meetings as needed.
• Prepare conceptual budgets, design‑build estimates, and negotiated proposals.
• Analyze historical project costs to improve estimating accuracy and profitability.
• Maintain knowledge of local labor markets, material pricing, and Oregon mechanical construction trends.
• Assist with project turnover and handoff to operations following project award.
• Ensure all estimates meet company quality standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.

• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction.
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, controls, and mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and bid documents.
• Experience estimating projects in office, healthcare, education, industrial, manufacturing, and mixed‑use facilities.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Quote Soft, Bluebeam, Trimble, FastEST, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Working knowledge of Oregon mechanical codes and regional construction practices.

• Strong mechanical construction knowledge
• Accurate material takeoff and labor estimating skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple bid opportunities
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

• Design‑build estimating experience
• Experience with negotiated work
• Existing relationships with Pacific Northwest subcontractors and suppliers
