Brief Description

The Superintendent is responsible for the on-site supervision, coordination and execution of commercial construction projects ranging from $15+ million. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents, company standards and applicable regulations. The Superintendent serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, inspections and daily site operations.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Ensure pre-task plans, daily inspections, Toolbox Talks, site orientations, etc. are completed
  • Address safety issues immediately and document incidents as required
Site Management & Project Execution
  • Create and maintain the project’s master schedule using MS Project on coordination with the PM
  • Work with project team to assess and resolve constructability issues proactively
  • Coordinate construction sequencing and material deliveries
  • Maintain proper on-site documentation, including daily reports, inspections, safety records, etc.
  • Oversee the quality control plan for the project
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Arrange all job site inspections, commissioning, etc.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and suppliers
  • Conduct preconstruction and subcontractor coordination meetings
  • Supervise R&H employees, including completing evaluations, addressing performance issues, etc.
  • Manage punch list and ensure timely completion of work
  • Drive to/from jobsite, office, meetings, etc.
Scheduling & Reporting
  • Maintain 3-week look ahead schedules
  • Track labor, productivity and material deliveries
  • Provide regular progress updates and reports to project team
  • Identify potential schedule impacts and corrective actions
Communication
  • Act as a liaison between the owner, architect, subcontractors, and R&H project team members
  • Coordinate information and documentation (RFIs, submittals, field changes, etc.) between R&H, owners, architects, and subcontractors
  • Build relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors
  • Communicate tasks clearly and respectfully to R&H employees and subcontractors
Requirements Qualifications/Skills
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and sequencing
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, safety regulations and inspection processes
  • Strong communication skills - written and oral
  • Strong leadership skills – ability to manage multiple subcontractors and schedules simultaneously
  • Able to read and interpret project drawings and specifications
  • Attention to detail, analytical approach to problems
  • Current knowledge of safety regulations and codes
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to use independent judgment and independent action
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required
Education/Experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience supervising commercial construction projects
  • Proven experience managing projects in the $5-$15 million range
  • Proficient with construction scheduling software (ex. MS Project, Primavera, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu
  • Able to navigate in ERP, Safety and HRIS technology tools
  • OSHA 10/30-Hour Certification (or able to obtain)
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred
