WCSH-TV P, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Portland, is seeking an innovative Producer to shape daily newscasts. We build creative shows that engage, educate and inform our audiences and prioritize original storytelling and investigative journalism as key components of our newscasts to set our product apart in the Portland market. We value a collaborative, motivated journalist who works well within a team to bring the truth to our growing audiences across platforms, starting with our streaming and broadcast services.

• Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
• Showcase creativity and storytelling skills.
• Craft stories of all lengths on all platforms for specific audiences.
• Combine live pictures, graphics, compelling video and sound to create an engaging experience.
• Provide continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and community events.
• Consistently try new approaches after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
• Drive content in your rundown through impactful community conversations.
• Use data analytics to shape content.
• Challenge traditional methods and ensure diverse viewpoints are represented.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of news content experience.
• Top-notch communication skills; strong journalistic judgment and a focus on accurate, fair local content and community engagement.
• Understanding of professional journalism tenets.
• Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
• Strong social media skills with active presence on preferred platforms.
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
• ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.
