Transdev in Portland,OR is hiring a Paratransit Dispatcher to support Paratransit Operations for Tri Met LIFT. The Paratransit Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.
Transdev is proud to offer:Competitive compensation starting at $32.86 per hour, with scheduled progression to $37.36 per hour after three years.

Key Responsibilities:Service Monitoring & Dispatch Coordination
Monitor service performance and schedule adherence, adjusting and dispatching resources as needed to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operations. Communicate service updates and coordinate responses to service issues, delays, and trip disruptions.
Crisis & Incident ManagementServe as the initial point of contact for service incidents and emergencies, coordinating appropriate response actions and documenting events accurately. Make timely operational decisions to protect safety, restore service, and support Operators and passengers.
Communication & Professional ConductMaintain professional, clear communication with Operators, passengers, and leadership, ensuring accurate information flow and effective issue resolution. Support a respectful, collaborative dispatch environment and ensure consistent shift-to-shift information handoff.
Operational DutiesTrack service deviations, staffing changes, and resource allocations while ensuring compliance with operational policies and service requirements. Support reporting, data accuracy, and coordination with supplemental providers to uphold service quality and contractual standards.
Dispatch Decision-Making & EscalationApply sound judgment during service incidents by assessing situation severity, making appropriate operational decisions, and following established escalation protocols. Ensure safety, timely communication with leadership, and accurate documentation for all service disruptions, emergencies, and critical events.

QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in paratransit dispatching, transit operations, emergency communications, or a related high-volume, fast-paced operations environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions, and maintain composure during high-pressure situations.
- Strong verbal communication skills for radio and telephone interactions.
- Ability to provide empathetic, service-oriented support to Operators and passengers.
- Proficiency in incident documentation, log keeping, and accurate data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers, supervisors, and field personnel.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Experience using Trapeze, VISION, Lytx, or comparable transportation/dispatch technology systems.
- Prior training or certification in emergency communications, transit operations, or incident response.
- Strong analytical skills related to service monitoring, schedule adherence, and operational problem-solving.
- College coursework or an associate degree in transportation, communications, public safety, or a related field.
- Experience coordinating responses during safety events, service disruptions, or passenger emergencies.
The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
- Primarily office-based in a fast-paced, 24/7/365 communications environment with multiple monitors, active radio and phone lines, and other dispatchers working simultaneously.
- Requires the ability to maintain focus amid multiple conversations, alarms, and distractions.
- Frequent sitting and handling of communications equipment, with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift with notice, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and maintain regular attendance.
- Some shifts require working independently with limited supervision while balancing competing priorities.
