About The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB)The Northwest Tribes recognized the need to exercise control over the design and development of health care delivery systems in their local communities. They formed the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB) in 1972. Guided by a vision of “Health and Wellness for the Seventh Generation,” NPAIHB is a 501(c)(3) non‑profit tribal organization serving the 43 federally recognized tribes in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
Each member tribe directs a delegate to the Board. NPAIHB’s mission is to eliminate health disparities and improve the quality of life of American Indians and Alaska Natives by supporting tribes in delivering culturally appropriate, high‑quality health programs and services.
The NTDSC Project Coordinator works closely with the Director to improve oral health for AI/AN people by providing support, guidance, training, education, enhancement, quality improvement, and technical assistance to 46 IHS, Tribal, and Urban dental programs in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The Coordinator reports to the Director, is based in Portland, and may travel locally or overnight up to 20% of the time.
EssentialFunctions
- Coordinate NTDSC activities in alignment with the NPAIHB Strategic Plan.
- Participate in NTDSC meetings, program discussions, and provide minutes when requested.
- Support planning and implementation of training, meetings, reports, and site visits.
- Collaborate with the Director to assess and coordinate event planning needs, including venue selection, budget development, IT requirements, contract execution, invoices, banquet event orders (BEOs), communication plans, and timeline management.
- Develop and manage event registration processes with Communications staff.
- Arrange travel and reimbursement for training and events.
- Coordinate logistics for Continuing Dental Education (CDE) for I/T/U programs.
- Purchase supplies and maintain NTDSC product inventory.
- Create educational materials on oral health awareness and prevention (facts sheets, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations).
- Maintain and update the Dental Roster and email listserv.
- Assist in website content and social media strategies with Communications staff.
- Support NTDSC development with staff, tribes, partners, and consultants.
- Implement capacity-building and quality improvement strategies based on tribe needs.
- Execute updated NTDSC priorities in alignment with strategic plans.
- Coordinate travel arrangements, authorizations, and reports for DHA students and the DHA Director.
- Coordinate DHAP meetings, attend committee/board meetings, and distribute minutes.
- Maintain DHAP website and provide additional admin support, including virtual/in-person meetings and travel requests.
- Oversee all Continuing Education processes in partnership with accreditation providers (ACCME, ANCC, ASWB, etc.).
- Coordinate speakers, collect required materials, and submit documentation for approval.
- Review session materials for compliance and collaborate with partners to address deficiencies.
- Issue CE certificates per provider requirements and maintain audit-ready records.
- Manage evaluation surveys, analyze results, and support reporting.
- Provide operational support during sessions (technical setup, participant management, troubleshooting).
- Archive session materials and track attendance in program tools.
- Compile outcome data for quarterly and annual grant reporting.
- Work with the Director to establish program goals, deliverables, plans, and timelines.
