Overview
Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) of the Health Department provides quality dental services to underserved populations in Multnomah County. The Dental Assistant (EFDA) – KSA – Spanish assists dentists and hygienists in daily dental care and requires fluency in Spanish and English.
Responsibilities- Clinical Functions and Provider Support: Provide 4‑handed dentistry, mix materials, place rubber dams, take impressions, anticipate provider needs, conduct dental assisting and expanded functions (sealants, polishing, matrix retainers, temporary restorations).
- Resources Management / Infection Control: Sanitize operatories, ensure supplies, report repair needs, follow PPE guidelines, monitor inventory.
- Customer Service: Interact respectfully with patients, manage wait times, notify about schedule changes, perform phone follow‑ups, serve as liaison between staff and providers.
- High school completion or equivalent.
- Valid expanded‑function dental assistant certificate with radiologic proficiency issued by the Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners.
- Board‑accredited dental assistant program graduate.
- BLS CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
- At least one year of responsible dental‑assistant experience is preferred.
- Comfortable with fast‑paced clinical environment and teamwork.
