Position Overview:
The Dental Hygienist provides comprehensive dental hygiene services to Native American and Alaska Native patients and other vulnerable populations.
What you will do:
- Provide patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse.
- Take and expose dental x-rays.
- Remove calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
- Apply preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants, fluoride, silver diamine fluoride)
- Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health; (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling)
- Perform documentation and office management activities as assigned.
- Administer topical and local anesthesia.
- Provide clinical services for mentally ill and/or drug affected/recovering patients.
We would like to hear from people that have:
- Two years' experience as a registered dental hygienist preferred.
- Associate or bachelor's degree in dental hygiene.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate and valid license to practice dental hygiene issued by the State of Oregon.
- Oregon dental hygiene license must include, or can obtain, a local anesthesia permit; current Healthcare Provider CPR certification or the ability to obtain the certification.
- Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
- Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
- Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community preferred
