Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Architectural Designer / Job Captain

At ORANGEWALLstudios, design is both a creative pursuit and a collaborative practice. Our process values—Passion, Vision, Collaboration, and Craft—and our personal values of Empathy, Respect, Care, and Joy shape how we work with one another, our clients, and our community. We lead with empathy, set egos aside, and create thoughtful architecture that supports wellness and makes a positive community impact.

Our team brings diverse perspectives, curiosity, and care to projects across a wide range of types and scales. We are looking for someone who will contribute both strong technical judgment and a generous, collaborative spirit.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a self-motivated, solutions-oriented Architectural Designer/Job Captain with strong Revit production, visualization, and coordination skills. Working closely with project architects, project managers, consultants, and clients, you will help translate design intent into accurate, coordinated deliverables from early design through construction and closeout. This is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of project documentation, strengthen team communication, and contribute to a design-focused studio where thoughtful ideas and technical craft are equally valued.

You will have substantial responsibility early, close mentorship from experienced architects, exposure to clients and consultants, and a visible path toward becoming a Project Architect.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

DESIGN + PROJECT SUPPORT

  • Support project leads and principals across design, documentation, coordination, and delivery.
  • Contribute throughout all phases of project development, from early design through construction and closeout.
  • Develop space plans, schedules, studies, and other project materials.
  • Help organize architectural and consultant teams so work is completed in an orderly, timely, and professional manner.
  • Provide informed input on design, documentation, and construction schedules.

TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION + QA/QC

  • Produce coordinated architectural drawing sets primarily in Revit, with occasional AutoCAD support.
  • Develop construction details and documentation that meet studio QA/QC processes and professional standards.
  • Create compelling visualizations using Revit, Enscape, Sketch Up, Photoshop, and appropriate AI tools.
  • Prepare clear graphics, presentations, reports, and meeting documentation.
  • Identify and document conflicts early, then help evaluate practical alternatives and solutions.

CODES, PERMITTING + PROJECT PROCESS

  • Research applicable codes and prepare clear code summaries.
  • Support permitting, bidding, and agency-review processes.
  • Help coordinate responses, revisions, and project closeout documentation.

FIELD WORK + EXISTING CONDITIONS

  • Plan and participate in building surveys, field measurements, existing-condition documentation, and as-builts.
  • Observe contractor progress during construction, document findings, and support recommendations to the project team.

TEAM + CLIENT COORDINATION

  • Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams; capture decisions and action items in concise meeting minutes.
  • Research materials and products and coordinate with vendors.
  • Represent ORANGEWALLstudios with professionalism, integrity, curiosity, and respect.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, share ideas, and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
  • Take on related project and studio responsibilities as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING

EXPERIENCE + CREDENTIALS

  • At least 3 years of experience producing architectural drawing sets in Revit.
  • Professional degree in architecture required.
  • Professional licensure in Oregon or another state preferred; NCARB certification preferred.
  • LEED and/or WELL accreditation is a plus.

SOFTWARE + TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency with Revit and Enscape, plus Sketch Up,…
