Volunteer Opportunity to help students start their mornings safely, confidently, and with community connection.
OverviewPatrick Lynch Elementary is located in East Multnomah County, and we are launching a Walking School Bus program to help students walk to school safely, build community connections, and reduce traffic congestion around our school. A Walking School Bus is a supervised group of students who walk along a set route to school with trained adult volunteers.
About the ProjectBecome a Walking School Bus Route Leader at Patrick Lynch Elementary and help our students start their mornings safely, confidently, and with community connection. Volunteers will meet students at designated neighborhood meeting spots and walk with them along an assigned route to school.
Responsibilities- Greet students and/or families at a specific meeting location
- Follow an established walking route to Patrick Lynch Elementary
- Model safe walking practices
- Provide a friendly, reliable adult presence
- Help create a joyful, predictable morning routine for families
This role takes about 20–30 minutes before school
, but it makes a huge impact on student safety and community wellbeing.

Project Requirements- Age: Volunteers must be 18+
- Training: Training, gear, support, and route maps are provided. Background check and CPR training/card required, but all provided by Oregon Walks.
