Job Description & How to Apply Below
Help Elementary Students Develop and Practice Math Skills (age 18+) Referral

As is the case in almost all Oregon schools located in low-income areas, many students are leaving for middle school without the essential math skills they need to succeed. In close cooperation with the fourth-and fifth-grade teachers, we have established a student group math program to address this educational challenge. We need additional volunteers to assist in this collective effort.

As a Math Volunteer, you will:

Engage with small groups of elementary school students who are eager to improve their math  guided by a retired elementary school math specialist who, throughout her career, enjoyed great success in upgrading math achievement in schools located in low-income areas.

Only need a personal love of math and of being around eager young children (no prior teaching experience necessary).

The volunteer commitment is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the  school year at Prescott Elementary in the Parkrose School District. The group work will run for one hour. On some days, there may be some additional volunteer training or review immediately after the group work. Join us and help shape the future of our students.

Time Commitment:
Tuesday and Thursday mornings

About SAGE:
