Classroom Assistants - Substitute Positions
Substitute Classroom Assistants are responsible for assisting the lead teacher and other staff members with the general supervision and management of the class, and assisting with student arrivals, meals, outside play, and departures. Includes light cleaning.

Our Alder Montessori school is co-located at Alder Elementary School which is within the Reynolds School District. Alder Montessori has two classrooms; both serve children ages 3 to 5.
Substitute staff must be available to work on short notice for school days during the 2025-26 school year, and potentially in the following years. We will arrange and cover costs for to complete mandatory trainings to be in our classrooms. For substitutes who are highly reliable and demonstrate high level of patience, kindness and interest in being a Montessori early childhood educator, we will arrange and pay for additional Montessori and other valued trainings to prepare you for future job opportunities as a Montessori preschool educator.
Training and classroom work will be paid at $21.75 per hour. These hourly temporary substitute positions do not receive other employee benefits.
Job Requirements- Experience (and joy in) working with young children (As employee, volunteer or parent)
- Compassionate communication style and positive attitude
- Works well within a team and within a classroom environment with up to 25 children
- Active learner
- Dependable and will be consistently available for substitute shifts
- Strong Preference for candidates who are fluent in Spanish, or other languages commonly spoken by our young learners.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; bend, stretch and stoop repetitively; have the mobility to ensure the safety of the children; work with children on the floor; and lead outdoor activities in all weather.
- Able to tolerate loud noises, and odors.
Note:
All Employees at our school will need to enroll in Oregon Central Background Registry, and meet screening requirements set by the State of Oregon Childcare Licensing Division and Reynolds School District. Mandatory training: 1st Aid/CPR;
Food Handlers Card, Child Abuse Reporting; and other trainings.
