Part-time Faculty Interest Pool – Nursing (Clinical and Skills Lab)

PCC is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in both the Clinical and the Skills Lab areas of Nursing at the Sylvania Campus. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area. This is not an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the 2018-19 Academic Year.

Applications may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.

Responsibilities

The Clinical Instructor Scope Of Work: Supervises, instructs, and evaluates nursing students in a clinical setting. An instructor is assigned to a clinical site for 2 days or evenings a week/term and supervises between 6 to 8 students at one time. Primary communication is with the nursing faculty team coordinator, under the supervision of the director of the Nursing Program.

The Skills Lab Instructor Scope Of Work: Instructs and evaluates nursing students in the on-campus skills lab setting. Each lab provides an instructor–student ratio of 1:6. There are 2 to 3 instructors assigned to every lab session. Primary communication is with the skills lab team coordinator, under the supervision of the director of the Nursing Program.

Qualifications

Instructor Qualifications – Our Program and We Are Looking For

  • Part-time Faculty must be credentialed with a Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in nursing (a majority of the part-time faculty must hold a Master’s degree in nursing, as required by ACEN Standard
    2)
  • At least two years of nursing experience
  • Hold a current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon

Note Regarding Academic Credentials:

  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent regional accreditation. Transcripts from other countries will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with NACES.

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC Newly hired Part-time Faculty generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). Review the Part-time Faculty Salary Schedule on PCC’s Compensation page.
