Job Summary
The University of Portland Athletics Department is looking for tutors to assist with student-athletes' academic coursework for all courses. Tutors should feel confident providing writing assistance to the student-athlete. Tutors are expected to be available between 60-90 minutes per week to work with 1-3 student-athletes on study skills, note taking skills, test preparation, and any other course or assignment-related questions. We are looking for course-specific tutors as well, so please list classes you feel comfortable tutoring.
Additionally, tutors will be asked to log tutoring session notes into a database for the Athletics Department to keep track of notes from the sessions.

Core Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- A strong understanding of the subject matter being taught - please list subjects willing to tutor
- Ability to communicate the subject matter to another student in a format they understand
- Patience and understanding with students who work at a different pace
- Meeting with 1-3 student-athletes once per week for 60 minutes throughout the semester
- Record tutor session reports/notes in a database
- Attending paid training sessions offered jointly through the Athletics Department and the Learning Commons
- Ability to navigate Microsoft Teams or Zoom for virtual tutor sessions if needed
- Compliance with the University of Portland and NCAA rules and regulations in relation to tutoring and academic integrity
- Other relevant duties as assigned
- Flexible availability on weeknights and weekends to tutor students with busy schedules
- Proficiency in assigned courses (at least a B+ grade or higher in the courses you are tutoring in)
- Previous tutoring, teaching, or coaching experience
- Green Dot full training certified or willing to go through the Green Dot training
