Position: Adjunct Instructor for Nursing (BSN program)

Summary

Description:

This position is ideal for experienced RNs, nurse educators, or semi-retired clinicians who want to stay connected to the profession by teaching upper-division nursing courses and/or providing hands‑on clinical instruction at healthcare facilities throughout the Portland metro area.

This flexible teaching role may include classroom-based lectures, laboratory instruction, or clinical site supervision, depending on the candidate's experience and interest. Our curriculum covers areas such as care management, health promotion, population health, professional leadership, and evidence-based practice.

Primary

Job Duties:
  • Teach assigned courses, including lecture and laboratory sections as assigned, in nursing, modeling current best practices in teaching, and demonstrating a commitment to sound andragogical and pedagogical practices. Courses may include, but are not limited to, Pathophysiology;
    Pharmacology;
    Assessment and Health Promotion;
    Interprofessionalism;
    Medical Surgical Nursing:
    Providing Care for Adults and Older Adults (I & II);
    Leadership/Management:
    Epidemiology, Prevention & Informatics;
    Mental Health Nursing; and/or Community and Population Health.
  • Advise and mentor students during the course.
  • Clearly communicate to students when and how to secure instruction and feedback outside of regular course meeting hours.
  • Provide prompt and thorough feedback to students to ensure their ability to incorporate changes before subsequent assignments.
  • Work collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Understand and promote the mission, values, and core themes of Warner Pacific University.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills in all interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participate in the professional development opportunities provided by the institution.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in nursing required for didactic courses
  • BSN with CNE or CL certification for clinical instruction
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Oregon.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Collegiate-level teaching experience or precepting experience strongly preferred.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Washington.
Physical Demands – Work Environment:

The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
