Job Description
Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach PHYS 102 – Exploration in Physics in person at our Portland, OR campus.
Course DescriptionPHYS 102 is a survey course in elementary physics. The course focuses on basic concepts, principles, and history of physics. Topics covered include mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity and magnetism, and modern physics.
ResponsibilitiesTeach PHYS 102 to students, prepare lesson plans, deliver lectures, conduct assessments, and meet university teaching standards. Provide guidance in basic physics concepts and participate in faculty meetings as required.
Qualifications- Doctor’s or master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s degree with a concentration in teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
- Preferred: physics or a related discipline (e.g., atmospheric science, education with a cognate in physics).
- Compliance with ERAU policy: all adjuncts must be located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. New adjuncts are supported from all U.S. states except California. International work is not supported except for U.S. military bases.
- Ability to provide proof of qualifications, including official transcripts, professional licenses/certifications, documentation of military experience, and/or verified professional industry‑related experience.
