Summer School Activity Leader - Temporary Position

Job Overview

Metropolitan Family Service is looking for a temporary Summer School Activity Leader to lead engaging, age‑appropriate class activities for elementary students at Parklane Elementary. The position runs from July 27th to August 14th, 2024, with training the week of July 20th.

• Design, plan, and teach class activities across arts & crafts, sports, academic enrichment, and STEM.
• Supervise 12–15 students during after school hours, including meal time, recess, bathroom breaks, and class transitions.
• Record daily attendance and maintain classroom safety and rule compliance.
• Communicate with the SUN Site Manager, school staff, and families regarding student progress and class development.
• Maintain positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and custodians.
• Follow school and agency policies; ensure student confidentiality.

• Experience teaching elementary‑aged children and creating lesson plans.
• Strong behavior‑management skills.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Independent, self‑motivated, creative, and resourceful.
• Willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion.
• Spanish skills are a plus; basic English proficiency required.
• Commitment to attend all three weeks; exceptions for illness are allowed.
• Criminal background check required.

Monday through Friday, 8:00am–2:30pm. $18.00 per hour.
