Location: Riverdale Grade School
Salary: $33.96 – $71.32 per hour (based on 2026–27 licensed salary schedule)
FLSA: Exempt
The Riverdale School District is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified teacher to join our Summer School Program. The program is tentatively scheduled to run from July 6, 2026, through July 31, 2026. Classes will take place Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
General DescriptionThe teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students. The teacher performs instructional and related duties as they pertain to the state and district standards in science education, and in accordance with District policies and the terms of the teacher contract.
Required Qualifications , Licenses, Skills & Experience- Bachelor's degree required;
Master’s degree preferred (transcripts required). - Oregon Teachers Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC) License required with appropriate endorsement.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, effective across a wide variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal and ethical rights and responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Previous successful teaching experience.
- Valid First Aid and CPR-AED cards.
- Develop and implement activities that encourage students to be lifelong learners.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students with special attention given to TAG, special education, ESL, and other students who require specialized modified programs of study.
- Deliver classroom curriculum that adheres to State Standards and School Board policy.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals; establish clear objective for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
- Employ various instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of individual or student groups.
- Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the District’s philosophy of education, instructional goals, and other objectives.
- Assess students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
- Seek the assistance of District specialists as appropriate for referrals related to exceptional education services such as special education, gifted and talented education, ESL, and other programs.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
- Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in the classroom; classroom rules shall be consistent with the School Board and building policies.
- Plan and supervise the job performance of educational assistants in cooperation with the administration.
- Work with classroom volunteers to provide enhanced learning opportunities for students.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as requested or needed.
- Supervise students both in and out of the classroom.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in District-provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned within contractual parameters.
- Adhere to all provisions of the negotiated Certified Contract.
