Rate: $20.49 - $26.97 per hour DOE, PLUS employer‑paid retirement and generous benefits package;

Work Calendar: 35 hours per week; 174 days

The job of “Educational Assistant” is to assist under direct supervision in the supervision and instruction of students, relieve teachers of routine clerical tasks, and assist students by providing for health care needs.
Required Qualifications- Two years of postsecondary study in an academic program, an associate's (or higher) degree
- A passing score on a state or local academic assessment that measures knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics when available
- Bilingual
Building Principal or Supervisor
Essential Job Functions- Administers first aid and medical protocols as designated by the school nurse to provide appropriate emergency care for children.
- Provides physical assistance to students with disabilities, including toileting, changing, feeding, lifting, and supervising activities such as playground, cafeteria, safety patrol, and bus loading or riding.
- Assists teachers and parents in implementing lesson plans and/or developing students’ daily living and behavioral skills.
- Implements classroom work/homework under the direction of the teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives.
- Monitors students during classroom recesses within a variety of school environments such as rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, classrooms, library, bus stops, cafeteria and crossing streets to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- Maintains classroom equipment and students’ files/records to ensure a safe and appropriate learning environment.
- Performs basic clerical functions, scheduling, copying, etc., to support the teacher in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials.
- Reports relevant performance and behavioral data that supports the planning process, and reports incidents related to specific students (e.g., discipline, accidents) to communicate information to teachers and administration.
- Implements and modifies behavioral strategies with students consistent with classroom and building behavioral goals.
- Instructs students in groups or individually, and assists the teacher in monitoring and documenting the progress of students in reaching individual goals and objectives on each student’s Individualized Education Program.
- Assists other personnel as required to support them in completing their work activities.
- Confers with teachers, parents and/or appropriate community agency personnel to assist in evaluating students’ progress and implementing students’ objectives.
- Participates in various meetings to share information and improve skills and knowledge.

- Maintains confidentiality of information relating to students, families and colleagues.
