PRIMARY PURPOSE The Placement Coordinator – Counseling & Therapy within the Graduate School of Education and Counseling reports directly to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Placements. This role is primarily responsible for coordinating and maintaining clinical practicum, externship, and internship placements for graduate students across multiple counseling and therapy programs.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills; experience collaborating with clinical partners and higher education stakeholders; and a commitment to equity and social justice in education.
To be successful in this position, the individual must excel at managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate data and documentation, fostering partnerships with mental health sites, and ensuring that placement processes are transparent, timely, and aligned with the mission and values of the Graduate School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESPlacement
Collaborate with faculty in counseling and therapy programs to understand and respond to placement needs of multiple academic programs.
Maintain an understanding of the academic, placement, and licensing requirements for each supported program.
Communicate with graduate students and faculty about placement processes. This includes presenting the placement process to students during orientations or program class time, as well as timely and clear communication via email.
Work with mental health partners to facilitate placement of graduate candidates from different graduate school programs in clinical sites with a goal of 100% of students with a confirmed placement by the start of term.
Data Collection and Review Collect licensure and employment data from supervisors and/or students for tracking and accreditation purposes.
Review and monitor data for completeness using an established CRM system.
Work with the internal team to ensure ongoing process improvement.
Work closely with staff in other offices to ensure accurate data collection processes for accreditation and program development purposes.
Edit and maintain forms and email templates.
Strategic Relationship Management In collaboration with Strategic Partnerships and Placement Director, develop and maintain good working relationships with mental health partners.
Balance the needs of multiple internal and external stakeholders (students, faculty, and partners) using quick prioritization and with good judgment.
Engage and collaborate with clinical placements sites and other stakeholders.
Event Planning Plan and host internship fair for Professional Mental Health Counseling, Professional Mental Health Counseling-Addictions, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Art Therapy programs.
Communicate with internship site representatives about the fair.
Coordinate with faculty to prepare students for attending the fair.
Coordinate all publicity, invitations, student worker assistance and other logistics for the fair with the event planning help of CTSP office administrative staff.
Support other Graduate School events as assigned.
