Portland Community College is currently limiting employment to individuals residing in Oregon and Washington. Employment offers are contingent upon the ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in Biology. This is a part‑time faculty interest pool; the department will identify applicants for new part‑time faculty positions as needs arise. Course assignments may include Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology, as well as substitute and full term class assignments.
Qualifications- Master's degree in Biology.

* * 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Biology. - Accepted equivalent Master’s degrees in the following areas:
Anatomy, Animal Behavior, Animal Sciences, Botany, Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine (DC), Doctor of Dental Science (DDS/DMD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM), Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Ecology, Education/Science Education (assuming 30 graduate credits in any of other subjects), Entomology, Environmental Science and Resources (ESR), Evolution/Evolutionary Biology, Fisheries, Forestry, Genetics, Marine Biology, Medical Doctor (MD), Microbiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Naturopathic Doctor (ND), Physiology, Plant Sciences, Wildlife Biology, Zoology. - Provisional approval may be granted to a part‑time instructor without a Master’s or Doctorate if they have 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area, are actively pursuing the degree, and expect to be awarded the degree within six months of hire. A letter from the graduate advisor is required.
Official transcripts must be submitted within 2 weeks of the offer date for all required academic credentials.
Veterans PreferenceOregon Veterans' Preference in Public Employment law provides qualifying veterans and disabled veterans with preference. Applicants will receive instructions during the application process and must provide the required documentation, such as DD214 or DD214 plus a letter from the Department of VA.
Benefits and CompensationPart‑time faculty may be eligible for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans. Compensation starts at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on the course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). For detailed benefit and salary information, refer to the PCC website.
