Part Time Faculty Interest Pool - French

Opportunity

Portland Community College is accepting applications for Part‑time Faculty assignments in French. This interest pool may allow hiring for substitute or full‑term class assignments throughout the Academic Year.

• Preferred:
  Master of Arts in French language. An M.A. in French may be considered if accompanied by 30 graduate credit hours in language, linguistics, literature, and culture.
• Candidate holding a Master of Arts in a related field with at least 30 graduate credit hours in the language may also be considered.
• Native or near‑native proficiency (to be assessed through a proficiency interview).
• One year of prior college teaching experience in, or closely related to, French.
• Teaching ability evidenced by a viva and support materials.
• Recent completion of a 3‑credit graduate‑level course on college‑level second‑language teaching methods, or completion of such a course during the first term at PCC.
• Official transcripts required within two weeks of offer for degrees required in the listed qualifications; foreign credential transcripts evaluated by agencies recognized by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
• No visa sponsorship is currently offered (e.g., H1‑B).

• Eligibility for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.
• Hourly rates determined by course type (lecture, lab, lecture/lab) and based on Step 1 of the current salary schedule.
• Veterans’ preference per Oregon law; instructions provided during the application process.
• Background check required before employment.
