Part‑Time Faculty – Geology
Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for part‑time faculty assignments in Geology. The department will review applications as the need arises for new part‑time faculty. This role is not a specific open position; applicants may be considered for substitute or full‑term class assignments during the academic year.
We require applicants to reside in Oregon or Washington or have the ability to establish residence in those states. Applicants requiring reasonable accommodation for the hiring process will be provided assistance.
Instructor Qualifications- Master’s degree (or higher) in the subject area
- OR Master’s degree (or higher) in a related area and 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area (per transcript review)
- Geology, Geochemistry, Geomorphology, Geophysics
- Geosciences, Earth Science, Earth Systems Science
- Planetary Science, Paleontology
- Paleo climatology, Physical Geography
- Environmental Science, Science Teaching
New part‑time faculty are eligible for certain benefits through PCC, including Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans. Compensation typically begins at Step 1 of the current salary schedule and is determined based on the type of course taught (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab).
