Part‑time Faculty Interest Pool – Spanish
Portland Community College (PCC) is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑Time Faculty assignments in Spanish. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part‑time faculty in this area. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part‑time Faculty Interest Pool from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.
Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full‑term class assignments.
- Preferred candidates will hold a Master of Arts in Spanish. An M.A.T. in Spanish may be considered if accompanied by 30 graduate credit hours in the language, linguistics, literature, and culture.
- Candidates holding a Master of Arts in a related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours in Spanish may also be considered.
- Native or near‑native ability (to be assessed through a proficiency interview).
- One year of previous college teaching experience in a related subject is required.
- Teaching ability as evidenced by a vita and supporting materials.
- Recent completion of a 3‑credit graduate‑level course on college‑level Second Language Teaching Methods/Methodology for Spanish (or required completion of such a course during the first term of employment at PCC).
Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the instructor qualifications. Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a foreign institution that has the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

- Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). Salary information is available on PCC’s Compensation page.
