Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in both the Clinical and the Skills Lab areas of Nursing at the Sylvania Campus. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the 2018-19 Academic Year.
Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.
The Clinical Instructor scope of work:
Supervises, instructs, and evaluates nursing students in a clinical setting. An instructor is assigned to a clinical site for 2 days or evenings a week/term. The instructor will supervise between 6 to 8 students at one time. Primary communication will be with the appropriate nursing faculty team coordinator, but the instructor will be under the supervision of the director of the Nursing Program.
The Skills Lab Instructor scope of work:
Instructs and evaluates nursing students in the on-campus skills lab setting. Each lab provides an instructor student ratio of 1:6. There are 2 to 3 instructors assigned to every lab session. Primary communication will be with the skills lab team coordinator, but the instructor will be under the supervision of the director of the Nursing Program.
Instructor Qualifications
- Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in nursing (a majority of the part time faculty must hold a Master's degree in nursing, as required by ACEN Standard
2) - At least two years of nursing experience
- Hold a current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCCNewly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.
Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
