General Description
The teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students. The teacher performs instructional and related duties as they pertain to the state and district standards in science education, and in accordance with district policies and the terms of the teacher contract.
Required Qualifications , Licenses, Skills & Experience- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred (transcripts required). - Oregon Teachers Standards & Practices Commission (TSPC) License required with appropriate endorsement.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, effective across a wide variety of audiences, including students, parents, and staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal and ethical rights and responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid First Aid and CPR-AED Cards.
- Possesses knowledge of district policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibility.
- Develops and implements activities that encourage students to be lifelong learners.
- Adapts lessons to implement the IEP goals and meet the special needs of students.
- Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support the teacher’s expectations.
- Assesses students’ social needs (e.g., behavioral, motor development, communication, etc.) and academic needs (e.g., developmental level, vocational abilities, etc.) for special education eligibility, appropriate modifications, and/or program placement.
- Collaborates with school personnel, agents, and community agencies (e.g., social service agencies, caretakers, etc.) to develop and modify programs to maximize the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
- Prepares paperwork, reports, and verifications for school, district, and ODE as required or requested.
- Directs instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student aides to provide an effective school program and address the needs of individual students.
- Instructs students with individualized special needs in developing appropriate academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to implement lesson plans and provide documentation of teacher and student progress.
- Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) to maintain the personal safety of students, provide a positive learning environment, and adhere to district and/or school policies.
- Administers medication, first aid, and/or health care requirements as may be required to provide specialized treatment and/or monitor students' medical conditions.
- Assists other personnel as may be required to support them in their work with disabled students.
- Participates in meetings (e.g., parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) to receive and/or provide information and/or meet legal requirements.
