Compensation: $20 – $22 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Afghan Support Network (ASN) is seeking Cultural (Native Language) Tutors to provide language support, literacy development, and cultural connection for immigrant and refugee students through the RIYSE Program. Tutors will work with students in Dari/Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Urdu, and other Arabic scripture languages to strengthen reading, writing, and communication skills while supporting cultural identity and belonging. The position reports directly to Youth Program Coordinator and is a part-time position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide native-language literacy support (reading, writing, conversation)
- Assist students with homework and school navigation
- Support cultural identity development and family connection
- Help bridge communication between students, families, and school systems
- Work with multilingual learners to strengthen academic understanding
- Maintain attendance, basic progress tracking, and participation records
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging & culturally responsive learning environment
- Engage with families and community members to support student learning
- Collaborate with ASN staff to continuously improve program quality
- Support any other Education Programs related work & tasks
- Bachelor’s degree or adequate experience in related fields preferred
- Experience in social services, or community work preferred
- Fluency in one or more of the following:
Dari/Farsi, Pashto, Arabic or other Arabic scripture languages - Experience in tutoring, education, or youth development
- Experience working with youth or in education/community settings
- Experience working with immigrant/refugee youth preferred
- Strong communication and cultural competency skills
- Ability to support multilingual learners and newcomer students
- Ability to design clear and engaging lesson plans
- Ability to pass a background check
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites
