Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part‑time Faculty assignments in Small Business Development. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part‑time faculty in this area. This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part‑time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.
Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or business‑related field
- At least five years of small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity
- Marketing
- Financing businesses
- Understanding and using financial statements, taxes
- SBCDs business advisors provide direct business management and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners who are growing their businesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or business‑related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- At least ten years of small business management, previous ownership, top management experience in small business or other business experience in a significant management capacity
- Ability to relate to a diverse group of people (Primary contacts will be a broad cross‑section of the general public)
- Ability to analyze and research issues and work with others toward a solution
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision while maintaining excellent records
- Familiarity with business software (word processing, spreadsheets, database software, Quickbooks or other accounting software)
- A team player who enjoys working in a collaborative manner with entrepreneurs, business owners and other resources in the SBDC Network, and with partner organization.

CompensationNewly hired Part‑time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
