Position Summary
- This position is open to instructors interested in teaching in Portland, OR and/or online. The Child, Youth, and Family Studies program (CYFS) uses a justice-minded orientation to understand both the history and contemporary social positions of children, youth, and families. The curriculum centers dynamic analysis of race, class, gender, ability, sexualities, and development as factors shaping the experiences of children, youth and families.
CYFSis an undergraduate program located in thePSUSchool of Social Work (SSW). Please note that we utilize an interdisciplinary focus. Minimum Qualifications - M.S. or M.A. in a field of study closely related to children, youth, and families (e.g., education, sociology, human development, psychology, youth studies, family studies, social work, early childhood); OR a B.A. or B.S. and demonstrated teaching or practice experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- We primarily seek applicants who have expertise in critical theory or epistemologies, experiential or emancipatory pedagogies, writing instruction, aging in families,social policy, child life, and related aspects of the Child, Youth, and Family Studies curriculum (including courses in family of origin and bias recognition, social justice and anti-oppression work, family theory, stress and coping, child life, family law and policy, and related courses).CFLEcredentialing
is desired. Ideal candidates will also provide evidence of their experience working effectively around issues of social justice, diversity, and inclusion, with demonstrated capacity to meet the needs of underrepresented students and other marginalized groups.
