Job DescriptionJob Title: Teacher – Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education (Community)
Reports To: MECP Program Administrator
Job Purpose: Provide Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education services to eligible children and their families.
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate as a transdisciplinary team member to complete educational assessments and determine eligibility for EI/ECSE and School Age services.
- Case manage assigned children by completing due process forms and developing & implementing individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) based on assessment information.
- Direct individual and small group instruction to implement IFSP for children.
- Develop systems to monitor educational progress and maintain required records and reports.
- Plan & provide training & support for educational assistants, other professionals, and families regarding IFSP goals.
- Provide an educational environment where instruction is individualized and includes supports and modifications that facilitate learning.

Job Functions:
- Participate in ongoing professional development as requested or approved by the supervisor.
- Attend required meetings.
- Adhere to policies and procedures of the district, department, and program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work in various locations including home, community, school, and office. May involve lifting students up to 60 pounds, sitting, walking, and using computers and office equipment. Occasional evening and weekend meetings.
Education & LicensesEducation Required: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree.
Licenses, Bonding, & Testing: Current Oregon Teaching License in Early Childhood Special Education plus necessary endorsements and a Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
Requirements – QualificationsExperience Preferred: One year working with special needs children age birth to 5 years and their families.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Understanding of typical and atypical child development from birth to five.
- Knowledge of etiology and characteristics of common developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations for EI/ECSE eligibility and provision.
- Strong communication and collaborative problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to partner with families, explore options, and respect choices.
- Ability to lift students up to 40 pounds without additional support.
- Own transportation for on‑the‑job use.
Other: First aid and CPR certification, valid Oregon driver’s license, and own transportation.
Terms of EmploymentSalary and work year according to the current contract and school calendar.
Performance evaluated per Board's Policy on Evaluation of Licensed Staff Personnel.
Background & Drug TestingSuccessful passing of district-required drug test and criminal background check is required. Offers may be withdrawn for positive drug test.
