Overview
Join our Team at Portland Community College. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon and the 19th largest in the nation, serving about 80,000 students. With four campuses, five workforce training and education centers, and 200 community locations, PCC aims to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to the local economy. This opportunity is for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Engineering at the Sylvania Campus.
The department will review applications for new part-time faculty as needs arise during the Academic Year. This is not a specific opened position but a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool. Applications may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.
We are seeking qualified instructors to support our Engineering program. Details about the program are available at the PCC Engineering Transfer program page. As part of the application, you will be asked to list current PCC courses you would be able to teach. If this role aligns with your interests, please complete your application to be considered.
Instructor QualificationsFaculty may qualify as Engineering instructors through one of the following options:
- Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering
- Master's degree in physical science or mathematics with at least 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in engineering
- Demonstrated
Competency:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Registration as Professional Engineer
- Demonstrated Competency in Specific Courses:

Note Regarding Academic Credentials- Official transcripts are required within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
- Instructors must hold credentials from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent regional accreditation. Transcripts from other countries will be evaluated by agencies that are in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCCNewly hired Part-time Faculty typically start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined by the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
